Colleen is a USDF Silver Medalist with over 27 years of experience in dressage. I first started riding at the age of 10, bought a quarter horse, trained with Roy Yates during high school in reining. Roy was a follower of Fillis and we spent a lot of time doing “dressage” with our reining horses. In 1980 my husband got an assignment to Germany where I began studying strictly dressage. We stayed 3 years then headed back to the U. S. where I started a breeding business with my Trakehner stallion, Santos. In 1990 we got another assignment to Belgium where I studied for 3 years with Madame Helene Arianoff. Helene had trained for 16 years with Porteugese Master Nuno Oliveira. While in Belgium I ran the S.H.A.P.E. riding school with an average 20 students per week and became President of the club in 1992. We then went to England where I trained with Bristish Team Member, Richard Davison, on my “M” level Belgian mare. In 1995 we returned permanently to the U.S. and I began to develop my new business at home.
My main focus the last 10 years has been on competing. My students have earned bronze and silver medals including:
- 2008 Res. Champion RMDS Jr. Training Level
- 2008 RMDS Champion 3rd Level Adult Amateur
- RMDS 2009 Jr. Champion 2nd Level
- Champion 2011 USDF Region 5 Jr.3rd Level
- Res. Champion RMDS Jr. 4th Level,
- Qualifying for 2012 RMDS PSG Championships and earning another USDF Silver Medal.
My own Ster Friesian gelding also earned his Sport Predicate in 2012.
